To the outside world everything looks picture-perfect: hypnotherapist Kate is happily married and a role model to her daughter. But in secret she leads a double life. For years, she's been in a romantic relationship with archaeologist Andreas. When Andreas suddenly leaves for Greece, the fragile balance is disrupted and Kate has to face facts. Brave New Love is a disquieting exploration of motherhood, womanhood, lust and shame, asking with deliciously relatable Scandinavian humour: who makes the rules when it comes to love?
Brave New Love, the second feature film by Swedish-Danish director Maria Bäck, premiered this summer in the main competition at the Locarno Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Golden Leopard for Best Film.
